Real Madrid’s head coach Zinedine Zidane might have been relieved after the Uefa Champions League draw went in his favour on Monday afternoon.
Going to the draw Zidane had no problem drawing any team except his former team, Juventus.
“We will see on Monday who we get. If you ask me, I don’t want Juventus for two reasons”, said the coach in a statement by Supersport.
Madrid drew SSC Napoli in the last sixteen of the European tournament and they are favourites to advance to the next stage.
Zidane has a lot of experience in the UCL as he was on the losing side in 1997 while with Juventus. Borussia Dortmund won the trophy that year, before the French man [Zidane] won it as a player in 2002 and as a coach with Real Madrid in May this year, six months after his predecessor, Raphael Benitez was showed the door.
He is well aware that no team had defended the UCL title, but Zidane believes the Santiago based team has got what it takes to make history and become the first team to defend it after escaping a draw with Juve.
