The University of Johannesburg’s Division For Internationalisation Study Abroad Team has embarked on a programme named ‘Africa by Road’ “to provide UJ students with the opportunity to see Southern Africa”.
“Africa by Road is an initiative to move 600 UJ students into other African countries in the next three months,” according to the 2017 ‘Africa by Road’ statement from UJ’s Internationalisation Office.

The programme’s activities will include academic practices, cultural exchange, community engagement and sporting in Mozambique, Swaziland, Zambia, Namibia and Zimbabwe. Botswana is also on the list of SADC countries that students can visit*.

Correction: An earlier version of this article stated that the Botswana expedition would be cancelled but it was brought to our attention that the expedition is still going to happen. The article also stated that the first group of students had already left for Mozambique and Botswana when in fact they are only leaving this weekend.
