Local musician Clemour impressed the crowd at UJ’s International Festival with his musical talent on Friday at the university’s Auckland Park Kingsway Campus (APK).

“The performance was awesome,” said Fortune Moroke who studies Accounting at UJ. “It shows that we are a united country.”

The UJ student who was a finalist on the first season of The Voice South Africa performed a variety of songs included the jazz classic, Feeling Good by Nina Simone.

His rendition of the music fared well with some audience members. “It was very entertaining. I like his take on songs. I liked it very much,” said Lethabo Mashabathakga, a Psychology student at UJ.

The singer whose real name is Clement Ngobeni said he felt the atmosphere at the event was amazing. “I think we had a great time. It’s always amazing here at UJ, to come and perform here, this is home,” said Clemour.

Clemour said he was happy with the support he gets from his fans at UJ. “There are a couple of people who follow my music. It’s very nice to have this kind of crowd. It was really nice, it was a blast. Everybody was having a great time,” he said.

The International Festival is held every year at UJ’s APK campus in celebration of diversity.
