We love our hair and hate it when things can’t come together. Coming to think of it, bad hair day is a serious deal even for us guys although we have a few of it. But there are some students who make sure that this does not happen.
UJ student Gugulethu Mkabela is one of the people whose hairstyle is always on point and achieved through simplicity. For this week, she went for finger coiling.
“I chose finger coiling because I felt it would look good on me, and ohh boy I look good,” said Gugulethu.
The steps that she uses are also not fancy: “So, what I do is first apply Amla oil on my scalp, wet my hair with plain water, use Leave-in conditioner and then I apply coconut oil to the top part of the hair.”
“Afterwards, I use olive oil styling gel. Then you finger coil with your fingers to lock in the moisture. The trick is for your hair to be wet. Then you do that throughout the head,” said the BA Film and Television Honours student.
She changed the position of her hair later during the week to something that was not complex but still carried elegance.
“As time goes on, the roots of your hair unlock and you can alternatively comb it upward to a high puff bun, put a wrap band around and style your edges,” explains Gugulethu.
I heard that simplicity is complexity at its best. This is quite true, especially when it comes to some hairstyles. TOJ
