What you need to know …

1.

To receive your cash and transact on the system, you must have been granted a NSFAS bursary;

2.

Dial *120*176# and follow the prompts to verify and authenticate your account;

3.

In step 2, you will select your password, which will give you access to your account. Never share your password with a anyone.

4.

Once your account has been verified, you may continue to access your account by dialing *120*176# or via the web: https://celbux.appspot.com

5.

You may withdraw cash from participating stores (R10 withdrawal fee applies): Shoprite, Usave, Checkers, SPAR, Boxer or Pick n Pay;

6. 

Pay for goods at participating stores (no fee is charged on buy transactions): Shoprite, Usave, Checkers, SPAR, Boxer, Pick n Pay, Van Schaik, Nando’s, Romans Pizza, McDonalds, Burger King, Spur, Hungry Lion, Debonairs, RocoMamas and John Dory’s, among others.

Creating a cash voucher for withdrawal or buying 

On your cellphone: 

• Dial the short code *120*176#
• Enter your password
• Click send
• Select option 1. Cash Voucher and click send
• Enter amount and click send
• Your newly created voucher will be displayed

On the internet: 

• Enter the following link into your browser https://celbux.appspot.com/
• Log into your account by typing in your cellphone number and password and click the login button
• Click pay
• Enter amount
• Click done

Withdrawing cash or buying at participating stores

On your cellphone:

• Dial the short code *120*176#
• Enter your password
• Click Send
• Select option 1. Cash Voucher and click Send
• Enter amount and click Send
• Your newly created voucher will be displayed

On the internet:

• Enter the following link into your browser https://celbux.appspot.com
• Log into your account by typing in your cellphone number and password and click the Login button
• Click Pay
• Enter amount
• Click Done

What happens if you do not withdraw the total amount of the voucher? If you transacted with a cash voucher, your change will be added to your cash balance.

Note that …

• Each screen needs to be acted on within 20 seconds, or you will be required to repeat the process.

Using a cash voucher to withdraw cash 

If you want to withdraw cash at participating stores, …

• create a cash voucher (see how to do so above) and
• withdraw cash (from Shoprite, Usave, Checkers, SPAR or Boxer)

Using a cash voucher to buy goods

If you want to buy goods at participating stores, …

• create a cash voucher (see how to do so above) to pay for goods in-store (Shoprite, Usave, Checkers, SPAR, Boxer, Pick n Pay, Van Schaik, Nando’s, Romans Pizza, McDonalds, Burger King, Spur, Hungry Lion, Debonairs, RocoMamas and John Dory’s, among others)

Viewing your transactions

On your cellphone:

• Dial short code *120*176#
• Enter your password
• Click Send
• Select option 2. Query
• View cash balance and transactions

On the internet:

• Enter the following link into your browser https://celbux.appspot.com
• Log into your account by typing in your cellphone number and password and click the Login button
• Click More
• Click Transactions
• View transactions

Viewing your vouchers

On your cellphone:

1. Dial short code *120*176#
2. Enter your password
3. Click Send
4. Select option 3. Vouchers
5. Click Send
6. View your voucher

On the internet:

1. Enter the following link into your browser https://celbux.appspot.com
2. Log into your account by typing in your cellphone number and password and click the Login button
3. Click on the Voucher icon
4. Click on Vouchers
5. View your voucher

Making a payment to an informal merchant 

On your cellphone:

To make a payment to a merchant with a merchant code (which involves a cellphone to cellphone transaction) …

• Dial *120*176#
• Enter your password
• Select option 4
• Enter the Merchant Code
• Enter the amount to Pay
• Click send
