After you have applied for funding, NSFAS goes through certain steps to ensure that you are one of the eligible people to receive its funding.
The documents need to be uploaded to an applicant’s myNSFAS student portal account. This account is consistently updated to show the status of the person’s application.
Applications are open and close on 31st January 2023.
The announcement of the applications’ outcome, before the start of the academic year in early February, enables students to enroll without having to pay the mandatory registration fees.
The approvals results to an overall of 60 000 social grants approved students for the 2019 academic year, reducing the number from the initial 109 000 in December 2018 to 58 000.
In December 2018, a total of 109,000 rejected applications were reviewed, which resulted to over 60,000 being confirmed as financially deserving.
