Delhi University UG Admissions 2026-27 have moved beyond the initial registration and preference-filling stage, with the University already conducting multiple rounds of seat allocation through the Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS).
Contrary to claims circulating online, regular DU UG applications are not open until August 20, 2026. The CSAS registration and preference-filling process for the 2026-27 admission cycle concluded in July, and the University has since released allocation results for eligible candidates.
DU UG Admission 2026: CSAS Registration and Preference Filling
Delhi University opened CSAS registration for undergraduate admissions after the CUET UG 2026 process.
Phase I registration began on June 26, while Phase II, which involved subject mapping and programme-college preference filling, began on July 3.
The registration and preference-filling window closed on July 11, 2026, followed by a preference-change window that ended on July 13.
Candidates were required to map their Class 12 subjects with their CUET UG 2026 subjects and then submit their preferred programme and college combinations.
More Than 2.7 Lakh Candidates Registered
DU’s admission data shows the scale of competition for the 2026-27 undergraduate admission cycle.
More than 2.73 lakh candidates registered on the CSAS-UG portal. Of these, 2,18,284 candidates completed the registration process, while 2,06,835 candidates submitted their programme and college preferences.
The first allocation round considered more than 15.94 lakh unique programme-college preferences, highlighting the intense competition for popular combinations.
DU First Allocation List Released in July
Delhi University released its first CSAS UG allocation list on July 16, 2026.
The first round allocated 93,033 seats across 221 undergraduate programmes offered by 67 colleges.
Candidates who received an allocation were required to accept their seats through the CSAS portal, after which colleges carried out verification and approval of applications.
The second CSAS allocation was subsequently scheduled for July 25, followed by the prescribed acceptance, verification and fee-payment process.
DU has since published the second-round allocation scores as well.
DU Admissions 2026 Based on CUET UG Scores
For regular DU undergraduate admissions, CUET UG 2026 scores form the basis of the CSAS allocation process, subject to programme-specific eligibility requirements.
Candidates had to ensure that the CUET subjects they appeared for matched the requirements of the programmes they selected. Subject mapping was therefore an important part of the CSAS Phase II process.
The allocation process considers factors including programme-specific eligibility, merit, social category, seat availability and applicable tie-breaking rules. DU’s published allocation documents explicitly identify these factors.
DU UG Cutoffs Vary by Course and College
One important feature of the DU admission process is that there is no single cutoff for an entire college.
Allocation scores can differ substantially depending on the programme, college and candidate’s category.
For example, DU’s official first- and second-round allocation documents show different minimum allocation scores across individual programmes and colleges.
This means students assessing their admission chances should look at course-specific and category-specific allocation scores rather than relying solely on a college’s overall reputation.
Popular programmes at colleges such as SRCC, Hindu College and other highly sought-after institutions can attract particularly strong competition, but the relevant benchmark is the allocation score for the specific programme and category.
What Should DU Aspirants Do Now?
Candidates who have already received an allocation should carefully follow the instructions displayed on the CSAS portal and complete the required acceptance, verification and fee-payment formalities within the applicable deadlines.
Students who have not received their preferred programme or college should monitor subsequent DU allocation rounds and any official notifications regarding upgrades, vacant seats or special admission opportunities.
DU has also continued to publish updates concerning specific categories and programmes. Its latest admission documents, for example, include an upgrade window for CW, ECA, Sports and performance-based programmes.
Don’t Rely on the August 20 Deadline Claim
Students should be particularly careful about outdated information claiming that DU UG CSAS applications remain open until August 20.
That deadline does not apply to the regular CSAS UG registration and preference-filling process for 2026-27. The regular registration and preference submission process concluded in July, and DU is already in the allocation and admission stage.
Candidates should therefore rely on the official University of Delhi admission portal for the latest allocation, upgrade and admission notifications rather than third-party websites carrying old schedules.
For students targeting Delhi University, the key issue at this stage is no longer initial registration but tracking CSAS allocation rounds, seat upgrades, verification and fee-payment deadlines.
