Karen Jebapriya R Is Bringing a Customer First Approach to Indiquer

Before Karen Jebapriya R began helping businesses rethink their operations, she spent around three and a half years answering customers’ questions. Working in live chat and customer support meant listening closely, explaining clearly and finding a way forward when someone needed help. Those responsibilities now inform her work as a co-founder of Indiquer Global Services.

Karen’s route into entrepreneurship began with English Literature at Lady Doak College and continued through customer support and Learning and Development. Today, as a director and co-founder, she works across client relationships, business development and service delivery. The connection between these roles is her interest in understanding what people need before deciding how to respond.

At Indiquer, that approach has a practical purpose. The company brings together technology and business support services for organisations trying to improve how they work. Karen wants those solutions to begin with an understanding of the business using them.

From English Literature to Business Leadership

Studying literature developed Karen’s ability to interpret ideas, consider different perspectives and communicate with care. She later found these skills useful in customer-facing work, where a clear explanation could be as important as the solution itself.

Her experience as a Live Chat Agent and Customer Support Executive introduced her to the everyday work of resolving problems and managing expectations. It also taught her how much a professional relationship depends on whether people feel heard and receive reliable support.

Learning and Development added another dimension. Working with children and adults required her to explain concepts in ways different learners could understand. That experience continues to influence how she thinks about training, team development and communication at work.

Entrepreneurship expanded the scope of those responsibilities. She now has to consider how client expectations, delivery capacity and business decisions affect one another, while continuing to learn areas beyond her original training.

The Business Problems Behind Indiquer

Through client interactions and operational work, Karen noticed businesses struggling to bring their systems together. Some relied heavily on manual processes. Others had software and service providers that addressed separate tasks without giving teams a clear view of the whole operation.

For a growing business, choosing technology can itself become a demanding exercise. A solution has to fit the organisation’s requirements, budget and ability to implement it. Karen sees an opportunity to make that process more practical by understanding the underlying problem before recommending a service.

Indiquer’s work reflects this approach. Its offerings span custom software development, cloud support, business intelligence and reporting, digital marketing and customer support outsourcing. It also works with business management systems, including human resources management and enterprise resource planning solutions.

The company serves startups, small and medium enterprises, and established organisations seeking technology and operational support. Karen’s emphasis is on making those services relevant to the way each client actually works.

Connecting Technology With People and Processes

Software is one part of Karen’s remit. Her responsibilities also include understanding client requirements, coordinating teams, contributing to proposals and helping keep delivery aligned with what has been agreed.

Indiquer’s public website identifies her as Director of Operations and HR. That role places team development and service delivery alongside the broader responsibilities she describes as a co-founder.

Her background is useful at this intersection. Customer support taught her to ask questions and clarify expectations. Training experience helped her think about how people absorb new information. Both matter when a business is introducing a system or changing an established process.

“Technology creates the greatest impact when it is combined with capable teams, clear processes, and a strong understanding of customer needs,” Karen writes in her submission to Youth Chronicle.

It is a principle that gives her work a clear focus. A business needs people who can use its systems, understand their responsibilities and respond when a client’s requirements change.

Learning to Build Trust and Share Responsibility

Building credibility has been one of Karen’s main challenges. In a competitive market, a company has to explain its value and consistently deliver on its commitments before a client relationship can deepen.

Another challenge has been balancing the demands of a growing organisation. Client acquisition, marketing, operations and team coordination all require attention. Karen describes learning to prioritise, delegate and introduce more structured processes rather than trying to manage every responsibility in the same way.

She has also had to adapt to clients with different budgets and expectations. Her response has been to spend more time understanding their requirements, communicate the scope clearly and strengthen the processes behind delivery.

These are continuing responsibilities. Karen presents Indiquer as a business she is still building, with progress reflected in stronger client relationships, new service capabilities and improvements in how the team works.

A Wider Role and a Longer View

Karen considers the move into co-founding Indiquer a major turning point. It changed her perspective from resolving individual customer issues to taking responsibility for decisions affecting the whole business.

She is particularly proud of taking that step and developing confidence in unfamiliar situations. The opportunity to build a team and create work for others is part of what makes the experience meaningful to her.

Over the next five years, she wants to strengthen Indiquer’s services, expand its product portfolio and develop more scalable business solutions. Her plans include exploring AI applications and automation, building strategic partnerships and strengthening the company’s international presence.

Growing the team is another priority. She wants an environment where people take responsibility, continue learning and contribute ideas as the organisation develops. These ambitions sit alongside a continuing focus on service quality and client relationships.

Starting With the Skills You Have

For young professionals considering entrepreneurship, Karen’s experience offers a useful example of how skills can carry across industries. Her literature degree, support work and training experience each contributed something to the responsibilities she holds today.

Her advice is to begin with a willingness to learn and take ownership, even when every part of running a business is unfamiliar. Asking questions and recognising gaps in your knowledge are part of that process.

Karen continues to apply that lesson at Indiquer. The work now involves larger decisions and more people, but the starting point remains familiar: listen carefully, understand the problem and take responsibility for helping resolve it.
