With four course levels, practical learning from the first day and flexible payment options, Book It English Speaking Class is built around helping learners use English with greater confidence.
An English lesson becomes useful when a learner can take it into a conversation, an interview or a working day. That connection between learning and using a language is central to Rakhi Kumaran’s work at Book It English Speaking Class in Wagholi, Pune.
Her students arrive with different starting points. Some need help reading and forming their first sentences. Others can speak in simple sentences but want to express more complex ideas, write professional emails or prepare for interviews. Book It brings those needs into a structured progression, with practical application beginning from Day 1.
Rakhi’s approach also addresses a concern she encountered during her career in customer service and training: people who needed stronger communication skills often found the available courses beyond their budget. The course structure and payment choices she now offers are part of her response to that problem.
Experience That Connects the Classroom With Working Life
Rakhi brings 22 years of professional experience across customer service and Learning and Development to the venture. An English Literature Honours alumna of Wilson College, she completed her education in 2004 and began working in the international BPO industry. Six years in customer service exposed her to the demands of communicating with clients based abroad before she moved into training.
Her background includes nearly 15 years in Learning and Development and four years with Amazon’s Learning and Development team. That experience informs a teaching philosophy focused on whether students can apply what they learn, rather than simply complete a lesson or pass an easy assessment.
Book It was originally founded in February 2013. Rakhi paused the venture in 2015 to care for her newborn child and restarted it in July 2024 after leaving Amazon. The renewed venture carries the same purpose: to make language training accessible without compromising the quality of the learning process.
Four Levels for Different Starting Points
The Foundation Course concentrates on phonics, conversational skills and grammar. It is open to learners aged five and above, including those who cannot yet read or speak English. The listed fee is ₹4,000 per month.
The Basic Course develops grammar, pronunciation, vocabulary and public speaking. Its emphasis is on helping learners construct basic sentences with confidence. The listed course fee is ₹20,000 for four months or 88 hours.
The Intermediate Course is designed for learners who can form basic sentences but need greater control over more complex communication. Alongside pronunciation, vocabulary and public speaking, the material covers mock interviews and email writing. Rakhi’s original curriculum also includes business and dining etiquette, connecting language practice with situations learners may encounter professionally. The listed fee is ₹15,000 for three months or 66 hours.
The Advance Course extends the work into accent neutralisation, vocabulary, blogging, podcast hosting, creative writing and public speaking, including British and American English. Rakhi’s wider advanced curriculum also includes debates, objection handling and review writing. The listed fee is ₹18,000 for three months or 66 hours.
The progression gives learners a way to begin at an appropriate level and work towards more demanding speaking and writing tasks. Regular and weekend batches are available, with both online and offline learning options.
Payment Options That Reflect Different Learner Needs
The materials shared by Book It describe several payment arrangements. One option is to calculate the fee per session or hour and pay weekly in advance for the sessions planned that week.
Under the published weekly-payment breakdown, the Basic Course works out to approximately ₹227.27 per session/hour, based on ₹20,000 divided by 88 hours. The Intermediate Course uses the same approximate rate of ₹227.27, based on ₹15,000 divided by 66 hours. The Advance Course works out to approximately ₹272.73, based on ₹18,000 divided by 66 hours. For the Foundation Course, the ₹4,000 monthly fee is divided by the number of sessions in the learner’s monthly schedule.
The weekly amount therefore depends on the sessions or hours scheduled, with payment made before that week’s classes. This gives learners a way to spread payments across their learning schedule.
A separate payment-options flyer advertises a 50% discount for full upfront payment and a 25% discount with payment in two instalments. Its example combines the Basic and Intermediate courses: the ₹20,000 and ₹15,000 fees total ₹35,000 for seven months. Under the upfront option, the amount payable is ₹17,500. Under the two-instalment option, the amount is ₹13,125 on admission and another ₹13,125 two months later, totalling ₹26,250.
The group-offer material separately advertises a flat 50% discount when a minimum of five admissions are completed together and the fees are paid in full at admission. Learners can contact Book It to discuss the course, schedule and payment arrangement suited to their enrolment.
A Classroom With More Than One Kind of Ambition
The range of courses reflects the range of people Rakhi teaches. In her September 2026 submission to Youth Chronicle, she described a student base comprising approximately 60% school or college students, 20% people seeking employment, 10% working professionals and 10% stay-at-home mothers developing their skills.
For these learners, progress can mean different things: participating in class, managing an interview, writing clearly at work or returning to learning after time away. Rakhi trains students using the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages as a framework, while keeping practical use central to the experience.
Her September submission recorded 233 enrolments from 345 enquiries over the two years and two months following Book It’s restart, with a reported conversion rate of 67.53%. She also described learners travelling nearly 30 kilometres to attend and Foundation and Basic course places being reserved in advance. These were milestones from that reporting period, reflecting the demand she had built after returning to entrepreneurship.
Rakhi’s achievements also include the Ed Falcon Global Awards 2025 recognition as Leading Trainer of India, which she shared in her original submission.
Building Access Around a Clear Purpose
Rakhi’s longer-term ambition is to grow from one classroom into a building with at least five classrooms dedicated to English-speaking skills. The aim is to give a wider range of learners space to develop, while retaining the practical approach that shapes Book It today.
The course levels, weekend and regular batches, online and offline options, and different ways to pay all support that direction. They address different parts of the same challenge: helping people fit sustained learning into their lives.
At the centre of the venture remains Rakhi’s belief that language should not be the reason someone is rejected. Through Book It, she is working to turn that belief into a learning experience people can access, practise and carry into the situations that matter to them.
